Just imagine; it’s 6am, and you’re waking up on a freezing December morning – you can see your own breath in the room and the thought of leaving your duvet seems about as appealing as swimming with piranhas. That is, unless you have a lingerie photoshoot to go to. If I had this agenda every winter morning I’d be springing out of bed and into the wintery wilderness like a jack-in-a-box. Who needs fluffy pyjamas and cosy surroundings when you could be in a elegantly dishevelled photography studio in North London surrounded by bras, models and endless cups of tea?
Top high-street department store Debenhams have had a sudden influx of 28 bands on their website. The chain have also started stocking Invest In Your Chest favourites Curvy Kate. This is fantastic news as the brand will hopefully become more of a household name and will eventually be available in more ‘bricks and mortar’ locations. The site stocks the Lottie, the Portia and the Emily which are some of CK’s more ‘safe’ styles, however Debenhams will surely open the floodgates for Curvy Kate fans to explore what else there is on offer. Even so it’s really brightened up my frosty winter morning to see so many bras for sale in my size, and crucially – companies recognising the need for them. Other brands being featured include the brilliant Freya, Panache and Cleo by Panache… including Cleo’s fantastic LONG-LINE bra in a 28 band! Unheard of! This is a huge and vital step towards smaller back sizes being made more ‘mainstream’; so how about moving this into the stores soon? pretty please?
The results are finally here! After a long slog of voting, campaigning and multiple rounds the beautiful Lizzie Haines has been crowned Curvy Kate’s Star In a Bra 2011! Such a worthy winner! Second and third place went to the gorgeous Emma Donaghy and Georgina Horne – girls who have made waves since day one and no doubt we will see great things from them too! Keep your eyes peeled for interviews with all the top three girls over the next few days as I try find out how it feels to be a bra star!
Marks & Spencer have never been particularly well known on Invest in your Chest for their fitting… they got one of the lowest scores in my High Street Fitting Challenge, however this is perhaps an all-new low for the high street giant. If the model of the campaign has extra room (perhaps a handy storage solution?) does this not highlight a bad fit?
Ultimo CEO Michelle Mone (OBE) has been giving sneak peeks for this campaign for weeks now and I have been champing at the bit to get a glimpse of their ‘real women’. Although I don’t tend to agree with the whole ‘real women’ debate in general (see my ‘real women’ dictionary definition here) you can still get the drift of what is being intended here – models with more varied body shapes – I love to see what lingerie looks like on someone a bit more comparable to myself when buying, particularly online.
Eveden’s Freya lingerie recently launched their Facebook competition searching for a ‘blog star’ to join their new team of expert bloggers. The competition will consist of a two-part competition via a custom-built tab on their Facebook page. For the first stage, Freya fans are invited to say when they first fell in love with Freya, either by submitting a 30 second video or by responding in up to 40 words.
