It’s not that often that I find a bra in my size that I find really sexy. I’m not actually that huge a fan of overly sexy lingerie and will rarely go out of my way to buy any, let alone wear any. I’m much more of a cute, pretty, glamorous, fun lingerie kind of girl (and not all at the same time).
For this reason it’s pretty unusual for me to pick something up that’s both bright red and lacy, but when I saw Pour Moi’s Amour Longline in my local independent lingerie boutique, I couldn’t resist.
I adore the look of this bra for three reasons. Firstly, it’s a longline. I do love longline bras, but it’s very rare that I bother to pick one up as the fit is often a bit off. The either roll up or shift about or don’t look all that great on me, but this one’s only a mini longline so it only has a slightly elongated band meaning you don’t get a lot of the negative effects associated with longline bras.
Secondly, it’s the colours. The baby pink offsets the raspberry red perfectly, bringing it slightly down to earth and into the ‘pretty’ section of sexy as opposed to a colour pairing like, say, red and black. It also suits my pale skintone much better and doesn’t look overwhelming or make me look like the bride of Dracula.
Thirdly, the different ways of styling it. It can be worn as a strapless bra (the longline, 5 hook and eye construction helps it stay in place), as a multiway (either one shoulder, halterneck or crossover neck are no problem in this bra) or as a ‘regular’ bra. Pretty nifty little bra to have in your collection if you ask me.
Not only is this bra able to be worn as a strapless or a multiway, but it actually works rather well as either. Surprisingly, this isn’t actually that common an achievement, and multiway bras which can be worn as a strapless tend to be rather useless since that’s not really what they are designed for and it usually feels like you’re putting up with a little bit of support rather than having a really great strapless bra on.
Fit wise, it’s not something I would wear on a daily basis (the thought of doing up all those hooks and eyes every day quite frankly fills me with dread), but it’s something I’ve really been enjoying having in my collection. I find very few strapless bras both hold you up and in place and feel comfortable all in one go – they’re either really supportive and excruciatingly uncomfortable or really comfortable but give you a wierd shape. This one does neither, plus it looks really nice! Can’t complain about that.
I picked the bra up in a 32F, the size I tend to gravitate towards in Pour Moi. Their bands are often quite firm, to the point that a 30 is just too uncomfortable after a long day, and definitely feels like it’s doing me no favours in the fit department. The cups are quite close set but not too much, but they are rather shallow. This isn’t so bad for me as my boobs are quite wide set and get on quite well with shallower cups, but for ladies with closer-set breasts and more forward projection, this might not be the best choice for you.
The only niggle worth mentioning is how when the bra is worn halterneck, I wear the strap fully extended as far as it will go and it only just fits comfortably. I worry that this might be an issue for women with larger shoulders than me, or a larger frame. I’d expect there to be a little bit more breathing space to allow for more body types!
Even so, I’d definitely recommend trying on the Amour Longline, it’s a really reasonably priced bra but is really rather good quality (as with all of the Pour Moi range).
The size range is quite limited, with only 30-38 B-F, but for those in that size range it’s a great little number to try out.
This range is actually currently available on the Pour Moi website with a heavy discount. Go go go!
