I’m always a sucker for a trade show. After visiting Moda back in February to see the brands and styles being released right now, I always like to know the secrets and what my favourite brands have up their sleeves, as well as check out some new up-and-coming competition.
When scouring the huge venue I try to keep my eyes open for three things: recurrent trends, old favourites and innovative new styles, and on this occasion the UK’s largest lingerie trade show did not disappoint.
There were lots of recurrent themes which seemed to permeate a lot of the collections, and since it is all about next Spring/Summer there was a vast amount of swimwear. Bikinis, tankinis and swimsuits all made an appearance, with clear 70’s and 60’s retro influences:
Bright colours and polka-dots galore:
Bright coloured prints and colour blocking was a strong trend for many brands – Freya, Affinitas, Panache all boasted a dazzling array of rainbow colours and pillar-box brights, for example Freya teamed blue with yellow and green and teal and orange for this bold bikini set…
Lace was a key fabric again this season after a big show back in February. Moving on rom the ‘black lace over nude’ which was huge for Autumn/Winter 2011, laces for 2012 were with a bit of a twist. Pour Moi had a delicious plum purple lace over a coral for one of their bra sets, a colour combo which may sound a little out there but really worked.

Curvy Kate have branched out their gorgeous Showgirl Collection set ‘Tease Me’ away from x colour with black to a pink with cream lace overlay or a white with a dusky blue lace overlay – both utterly beautiful and a nice change from the predictable black.
So adorable – Curvy Kate’s pink and cream contrast Tease Me

Sheer was big news again, with cheeky flesh-toned panels, bright lace or peekaboo contour work, a subtle sexy trend which seems to have developed across the board, for example a whole rail of sheer sets from Mimi Holiday:

Cups as sheer as could be from Freya
All in all, a great show with a promising and exciting season – why isn’t it next year already?
