Maison Triumph, Covent GardenIt’s been a long while since I was last fitted, so when Triumph Lingerie invited me down to their pop up shop in covent garden for a fitting, I simply had to oblige.Never one to turn down a trip to London (which I turned into a bit of a weekender and stayed with the lovely George of Fuller Figure Fuller Bust), but I’ve always particularly loved the Leicester Square Covent Garden Soho part of town, especially when the sun is shining. There’s just such a buzz about the place, and an infectious atmosphere of creativity, culture and charm. Located on one of the most exclusive streets in Covent Garden, Maison Triumph is on Monmouth Street, just off Seven Dials and adjacent to iconic boutiques such as Screen Face and Tatty Devine.
It’s a setting I’ve always loved, with the pastel shop facias and little boutique coffee shops. I couldn’t wait to see what was inside!A sneak peek inside Maison TriumphI definitely wasn’t disappointed, the interior is beautiful, with simply stunning decor, neon signs, vintage sewing machines, mannequin busts and enough pretty lingerie to fill a skip. That’s what I like to hear!I especially loved the note cards which customers had written about their fitting experience on. Suspended from the ceiling, these mini testimonials were really touching, with positive messages about bra fitting and how it has helped women feel and look their best. Never a bad thing! campaigns have really stood out to me, with their positive messages which celebrate women and bra fitting – two issues which are imperviously close to my heart.
The visualisation of the mini testimonials really held home to me that fit campaigns like this are so much more than stats and statistics; thousands of individuals out there really do need help with finding the right bra size, and it’s made really difficult for so many of them to feel comfortable in their own skin, let alone within their bras.“Triumph has been listening to women for over 120 years and in surveyed more than 10,000 women to discover their issues and frustrations when it comes to selecting the perfect fitting lingerie. Results showed over 76% of women wear the wrong bra size, which spurred Triumph to announce a mission to fit 10,000 in the UK in with an overall goal of fitting 100,000 worldwide.”All the latest Amourette shades…
After a little nose around the store I made my way to the changing room for one of Triumph’s infamous bra fits. I told the very friendly and knowledgeable fitting assistant that I was currently wearing a 30FF, and since Triumph do not stock this size she found me a range of styles to try in a 32F. I was pleasantly surprised by how well they fit, despite being different in size to what I usually wear, however the need to try on and be fitted into ever bra became apparent as some bras which I tried fitted much better than others, with discrepancies in fit between the band and the cup size. It all boils down to breast shape as well as size, and never assuming that one bra size will fit you every time in every style and shape of bra.
Triumph have always stood out to me as a brand which caters for the smaller busted women or the older generations, but seeing more of their range ‘in the flesh’ helped me see that they seem to be looking at more fashion-conscious styles which will suit the younger market for both comfort and boudoir appeal. I fell in love with this coral full bust bra and the hot pink balconette Amourette which I was fitted into, and would love to see more of this sex appeal in their ranges. Full briefs and full cup bras can have their place and do look pretty incredible if you’re going for a pin-up vintage look, but I struggle sometimes with finding beautifully-fitting bras which make me feel like the 25 year old I am.I was really encouraged to see some fun, flirty, sexy and sophisticated ranges at Maison Triumph, however, and I’m exceedingly curious to find out more about them.
