It might still be too cold to be thinking about florals and bra straps on show, but the world of lingerie waits for no one; my 300 denier tights are still going strong, but Spring/Summer collections are just around the corner. Who cares about Christmas, it’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Whilst we may have given you a little peek at the upcoming Parfait by Affinitas range with our sneak peek post – a collaboration I’m still pinching myself about – we couldn’t expect you to wait with baited breath until warmer months now, could we? I mean, what better way to get through the next few months than the promise of a lingerie drawer fit to burst with beautiful brights and brand new designs?
And now the dust has settled from the news of this very exciting collaboration, we can finally stop cooing over sneaky screenshots and fawning over unreleased press shots as we take a closer look at what we can all expect from the brand this Spring Summer. It’s a strong collection, fit to burst, both with new designs, new colourways and old favourites getting a spring clean of their own.
Charlotte is still my go-to gal for the ultimate cleavage. I’ve been smitten ever since we first reviewed the Charlotte way back when. And I know I’m not alone – hands up how many Invest In Your Chest readers have had their lives changed thanks to that gravity defying cup? My precious peach has been given an update in a just as beautiful (and equally as flattering) Dusty Rose colourway, but I’m most excited about the brand new Icy Blue. Combined with that classic black detailing, there’s something ever so Alice In Wonderland about the set, and if that’s not my dream then I don’t know what is. And let us not forget how perfect those high waisted knickers are (although the bikini brief is calling out to me).
We’re both ridiculously excited for new kid on the block Elena. Available in both Raspberry and French Blue, Parfait have somehow managed to nail both retro shaping AND modern styling. The slightly higher cups and symmetrical lace detailing is suitably adorable, but the bright colour pops and ruching on the hips makes this set something else entirely. It’s so striking, and Cheryl got her hands on the beauty for an upcoming review, so watch this space! There’s just something so different about it and I’m all over that higher cut cup, especially with the underwear as outerwear trend still reigning supreme with my clothing. Who doesn’t want to see that feather-like detailing under a sheer white top?
Print is another trend Parfait have toyed with this season, one I’m in full support of. The Delphine is back, all digital print and striking colour palette. There’s something very Ted Baker about the botanical design used, slightly off kilter to your traditional floral and one I can really get on board with. To paraphrase The Devil Wears Prada “florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.”, but there’s no shade thrown here; it’s an original take on one of my favourite trends.
On the flipside to all those colour clashes and prints, Parfait have got a cool and collected take when it comes to basics. The Leigh , with its pale pink girl lace and the Tess (a super soft modal collection), The Casey in cornflower blue with an all American feel, and the Carole (with another nod to that vintage cut, this time with subtle sheer panels) all constitute as basics with a little something special. They’re wearable and versatile, but never boring – old faithfuls but still something to be proud of. The Casey in blue really caught my eye, especially with such the sheer detailing on the matching knickers. I’m such a sucker for a sheer cut and a pastel hue.
It’s no secret that I much prefer the colour pops that come with Spring/Summer collections; there’s something about the warmer months just appeals to the lingerie magpie in me, just replace shiny things with brights and prints. That said, I think what Cheryl and I really loved about the upcoming collection that there’s something for everyone, whether you want to make a statement to celebrate summer or just give your lingerie drawer and update. It’s a really wearable collection that sees some exciting new designs from Affinitas.
What do you think? What sets are you looking forward to trying? One thing’s for sure, I think we’re all pining for summer now.
