Ever since I clocked this new release from Gossard on the Daily Mail, I’ve had my back up at their outlandish claims that: ‘Historically bigger sizes have been based on the smaller sizes, but have sacrificed style to deliver the much-needed support.’ So in response they give us this? Am I the only one who thinks it’s the world’s ugliest bra?!
I’m sorry, but this bra is NOT the full bust answer to the pretty frillies seen in smaller cup sizes, and the full bust market is no longer short of plenty of gorgeous lingerie in sizes DD to G (the size range of this ugly-as-hell Gossard boulder holder). It’s when you look beyond that, that problems begin in the fashionable lingerie stakes.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the likes of Boux Avenue have some hella cute lingerie up to F and G cups which you can pick up from the high street. Sure, a lot of the styles are limited past an F or G, but Gossard are in no way covering new ground here.
That said, I was curious to try their ‘unique moulding technology to embrace fuller cup sizes’ for myself. I have to say, I was underwhelmed. The bra itself is not exactly a looker, but the glossy effect is actually rather nice. The bra is fairly smooth seamed and the low cut gore could certainly be good under very low cut tops or for women who don’t agree with higher cut gores. I know that I’m a balconette girl at heart, but Becky for example doesn’t love a high cut gore and finds it digs in. No risk of that with the Glossies, hooray!
The cups are absolutey sheer, so all is on display which is not ideal for sheer tops, of indeed for blog posts. Apologies for the bad photoshopping, but I’m not quite ready to go all page 3 on you all! To quote the Daily Mail article: ‘The product has seamless inner ‘secret sling’ which gives extra lift and projection without using heavyweight material. It also has a hidden wire for extra support, a double layered wing to provide an anchored position and balanced support system.’ Now, I can’t say that this sling is particularly ‘secret’. In fact you could see it a mile off, and it looks hideous.
As you can see, from the side the shape is pretty great, with a lovely rounded shape and good uplift. The not-so-secret side sling may be an aesthetic abomination and looks a little like a medieval torture device, but is certainly good for pushing the girls forward a little. However, I did find it cut in to my breast tissue a tad, resulting in some rather attractive lumpy looking boobs. I have this bra in a 30F, and I estimate that I could probably have done with a 28FF, which of course doesn’t exist. The cups seem to run a tad small and the band is very stretchy and runs large. That said, it was rather comfortable and the fabric was pretty soft, so could be a good option as a tshirt bra. Hardly groundbreaking stuff, though.
