Gok Wan Osaka Body Bra Review

Well it’s not strictly a bra, although it does also come as a standard lingerie set!

So as this blog post goes live, Cheryl (the birthday girl!) will be joining some other wonderful lingerie bloggers at a breakfast to launch a new collection from Simply Yours with the man himself, Gok Wan. And what will I be doing? Getting ready to have surgery on my eye, woe is me! Despite my misery, I thought it was perfect timing to review my favourite piece from the Gok Wan collection at Simply Yours. Say hello to the Osaka body!
I fell in love with this body when it first came out, but at £50 I just couldn’t justify it, especially when I’m supposed to be on a mission to save AND not buy (too much) lingerie. I even ordered it and tried it on, which made the heartbreak even worse! So, you can imagine my utter glee when I discovered the Osaka body in the sale for a purse-friendly £22.50. I’m also a huge fan of bodies but my lowly collection currently stands at one; a perfect excuse to buy it a friend!
Knowing that the 30G fit me perfectly, I ordered without hesitation and couldn’t wait to get my mitts on my one true love.
I love floral and Asian style prints, so it’s no wonder I loved this. The coral pink and mint green design really popped against a white background. I’m so used to bodies in black that I really appreciated the crisp white colour, satin-like on the cups and middle, but beautifully sheer along the sides. The lace detailing was adorable and a nice way to finish off the cups.

The fit, as I mentioned before, was spot on for me. The cups fitted like a dream after I played about with the adjustable straps, and the back has its own set of bra hooks at the back for a secure fit. I was quite surprised as to how well this fit in the body, as they often come up short I know this is a common problem for many people, and I’m no different. It’s strange, considering how small a torso I have. At only 5”2, I’m hardly busting out of clothing, and my torso is considerably shorter than my legs, yet I still always find bodies to be a little short. This however fit wonderfully and the fabric has a fair amount of stretch in it which is great. It’s cut quite small on the bottom area, but unlike many sill resembles a pair of briefs as opposed to a thong, lovely and comfortable! The detachable suspender clips are also a welcome bonus, as are the hooks in the knicker area – easy toilet trips for everyone!
The cups are lightly padded which is great, making this item more versatile than your standard body. I love the underwear as outerwear trend that popped up a couple of years ago, and I think it makes for an interesting outfit choice. I’ve often worn bodies as a top with a high waisted skirt, or sheer clothing to show off a bra, and the Osaka body is going to be perfect to wear out. The padded cups means I don’t feel too exposed, but the sheer panels make it that bit more daring. I also plan on wearing this under a sheer white blouse to give a peek at what’s underneath. We’re off out for food and drinks for the birthday girl this weekend and I may well wear the Osaka out as a key component in my outfit!
I absolutely adore this body, and it’s reminded me why I love them. It really enhances my curves but is a modern take on the classic garment, and acts quite well as a bit of shape wear. I certain;y feel special wearing it and I couldn’t be happier with it. Even though I can fit into it, I was a little sad to learn it stopped at a G cup. But with Cheryl and some other lovely bloggers attending the launch for the new range today, I really hope a bigger size range is going to be announced. And I cannot WAIT to see what items are coming up next…well done Gok!
