Flirtelle is a brand which I’ve always been aware of but never really felt the need to investigate until now. Now I finally have a ‘real job’ which doesn’t involve a hideous uniform or plastic fleece pullover which makes pretty underwear redundant but wearable (you have to wear something nice under those generic, personality draining monstrosities in order to maintain some level of sanity!) yet now I work in an office I’ve discovered the need for strategic underwear – things that are, of course, still nice and offer a great fit, but need to be undetectable under a white pussy-bow blouse or button-up shirt.
Since I’m a sucker for a bra which is a nice bright colour, perhaps with clashing colours, a vibrant print, polka dots or stripes, as you can probably imagine I’ve begun to notice the gap in my lingerie wardrobe for plain and practical sets, and I never thought I’d see the day when I’d actually want a plain bra. Nonetheless I’ve been on a ‘practical set’ finding mission, and my first stop was Flirtelle. Since Flirtelle are ‘related’ to Curvy Kate, their sizing and fit is very similar so I ordered a 28FF in both the ‘Divine’ and the ‘Petal’ styles since they are so cheap on Brastop at the moment. This bra has fast become my ‘go-to’ bra for work.
Effortlessly chic and pretty, the floral embroidery gives a more luxurious finish to what would otherwise be a painfully dull bra. Yet, like always, simplicity can often be one of the most stunning looks when it comes to your undercrackers, as the timeless and grown-up effect makes you feel glam in an understated way, and the shape it creates is – like the bra’s namesake – sublime; once you get the fit right. 28FF in the nude shade – quite a lot smaller on me in the cups that many other bras of the same size Comparable in shape to the Curvy Kate Portia, Emily and Criss-Cross but without any of the extra fussy detail which can make those bras unsuitable for under a white or slightly sheer top or dress, the sublime’s cups are ever so slightly smaller than I’d need and I felt like the extra half-cup of the 28G was necessary for adequate boob-room.
