In a recent post I expressed my bad experience with the Curvy Kate ‘Thrill Me’ bra. I received some feedback about this comment – namely from Busts 4 Justice co-founder Becky Mount and Curvy Kate model Lauren Colfer – they were really quite surprised that I hadn’t been happy with it; they on the other hand see this bra as one of their favourites. With such conflicting opinions, and much discussion, the girls suggested that as I have a fairly old set of the ‘Thrill Me’ collection, I should try out one of the new pairs (Curvy Kate changed manufacturers since my set was made).
Becky herself owns the set in the pink and orange style:
I invited Becky to write a guest blog for me, giving a second opinion on the bra, and I think she did a great job! Enjoy! Despite being a Curvy Kate enthusiast, I’m not averse to highlighting a product’s flaws; I wouldn’t ‘wax lyrical’ about a bra I didn’t honestly love because in the past few years in the lingerie world I’ve become quite fussy. The ‘Thrill Me’ just happens to be one of my personal favourites. In all fairness, I adore everything from the appropriately named ‘Show Girl’ range by Curvy Kate, but the ‘Thrill Me’ is by far my favourite. The satin feel, the burlesque detailing and the mouth-watering colours make me weak at the knees. There’s no doubting the ‘Thrill Me’ is a beauty, no matter what colour combination you get it in, and there certainly is a lot to choose from. As any D+ cup girl knows that with great-fitting bras looks can fall by the wayside… It’s hard to find something that looks as good as it fits but Curvy Kate may well have hit the nail on the head.
The Fit:
Perhaps the one and only issue I (and I imagine many others) have with the ‘Thrill Me’ is the fit. Balcony bras are notoriously tricky to wear, no matter what your size or shape. Some people love them, and some people hate them, and I used to be of the latter until I realised it’s about making the bra fit your shape. A bit more effort than the average bra, yes, but so worth it. Personally, I find by shortening the straps a significant amount I can get some serious cleavage whilst remaining contained quite nicely within the lightly-padded cups. Like other Curvy Kate bras, the fit is comfortable and supportive, but perhaps take into account the perils of a balcony bra – no running for the bus in this beauty.
The Look:
Without a doubt, the ‘Thrill Me’ is one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever owned. The jewel-toned brights, the ribbons, and don’t even get me started on the ruffles – it’s like playing dress up every time you put it on. It may not be the kind of bra you’d wear every day, perhaps something you save for the bedroom and that’s completely understandable but personally I love to wear mine on a daily basis for a bit of oomph. Nothing puts a spring in your step quite like some beautiful lingerie. Now, I know the ‘Thrill Me’ isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough.
It’s the perfect set if you’re looking for something a bit different, to spoil yourself or someone else. With a variety of colours and matching underwear to choose from, there’s something for everyone. The prospect of such an over-the-top set may be a little daunting but it’s the perfect starting point to inject some life into your underwear drawer. Don’t be scared of that dreaded balcony fit, embrace and enjoy it! As a self-professed Curvy Kate fan myself, maybe I will take her advice and try one of the new sets. If I do, I will certainly let you know my thoughts…and if I have changed my mind on them! Hope you enjoyed the guest blog! Becky is a fellow blogger:
