Share me…You might be able to tell, it’s the start of new collection season right now! Luckily for you guys (or unluckily, depending on your perspective), that means lots of reviews of all the brand new stock that brands have been lovingly churning out for Autumn/Winter.
An eagerly-awaited addition to the mix is Curvy Kate’s ‘Entice’. It joins their Tempt Me, Tease Me, Fleurty, Elegance and Thrill Me ranges as a brand new addition to their ever-popular ‘Showgirl’ collection.
Can i firstly comment on how absolutely gorgeous this set is? It’s completely unlike anything else from the Showgirl range.
I’ve got this bra in a 30FF, as I found the band to be a little more true to size than past Showgirl sets. The cups are a little small in my 30FF so I feel like I could even have upgraded to a G cup, but I like the lift and Marie Antoinette cleavage that the FF gives. Going against the grain (most of my readers seem to disagree with me on this!) I prefer flatter wires, and I find the wires on this are a very narrow ‘U’ shape compared to what I usually wear – so for those of who have trouble with wide, flat wires, this might be the bra for you!
Shape wise, I’d compare the style of this bra to the Tease Me, but I must say that the cups do seem to come up a little smaller, especially for ‘full on top’ boobs. For someone a little fuller on bottom, the more curved shape of the cups is better, but something to bear in mind when you’re picking your size. Also, if you’re petite built and suffer a lot from underwires sitting very high under your arms, or from straps being a little wide set, you might find that this one isn’t the best option for you.
The striking monochrome colour-way and ‘vintage’ feel is bang on trend (this style was featured in our February’s Moda Trend Report). The triangular silky fabric on the straps is oh-so Victorian. It’s nice to see something in the range which steers away slightly from the burlesque feel and a little more towards being a bit more grown up and classic.
Becky’s initial recation to this set was that it looks remarkably like a mint humbug, and I’m sure now I’ve mentioned it you will see what she means!
With regards to the fit, I’ve always found that Curvy Kate’s core range fits my shape better (hello Emily and Romance!) I’ve mentioned in past Showgirl reviews that it’s fairly likely that you’ll need to go down a band size and up a cup size or two in these ranges, but once you get your ‘Showgirl size’ right, you’re away. That said, I’ve really got a soft spot for the Showgirl range. There really aren’t many options for showy, decadent lingerie for 28 bands or above an F cup, so the Showgirl range fills a huge market gap.
For me, as a die-hard wearer of fabric cups for every day this bra is not built for daily wear but more of something a bit special for an occasion or under your LBD on a night out.
I tried both the thong and the knickers, and had to up-size in both from my usual Curvy Kate brief size to avoid the dreaded ‘muffin top’, but the shape is absolutely gorgeous and the seam-free shape is so comfortable and flattering, even on my wider hips.
If you’re looking for something new, unique and jaw-droppingly gorgeous, I’d recommend you give the Entice a try.
