Underwear blogging seems to follow me around as I was on a recent shopping trip I saw literally hundreds and hundreds of bras hanging up in my local shopping centre, Castlepoint. At first I was excited but that quickly became confusion as I began to wonder why all these bras were hanging there – has my brain finally cracked under the weight of my boobs? Have straps, cups and hooks and eyes finally deteriorated my brain? Am I one blog too many or one review too far to be beyond help? Well, no, I was just being melodramatic as usual and the bras were there for a reason. A very good reason! The Castlepoint website states:‘ It’s that time of year again … Bag a Bra Week at Castlepoint Shopping Park, in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. From Monday 20th to Sunday 26th June 2011.Please bring all your unused bras to Castlepoint to create a shopping line along the mall. The more we collect, the more money we raise for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.’ As I’ve posted in aid of quite a few bra collecting charities now (Bra Chain, Breast Talk and Bravissimo’s in-store collecting service for Tommy’s charity), it seems the bags reviews a Bra Week’ uses the same concept to raise money as well as contribute to donations for third world countries who struggle to afford and source bras, something we all take so for granted. The Castlepoint website quotes Tracy Bartram – local community fundraiser for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance: ‘We would like all ladies to start sorting through their underwear and to put aside the bras they no longer need. From Sat 14th – Sat 21st June you can bring them to Castlepoint, where they will be collected at various sites and then hung around the centre on a ‘washing line’. By the end of the week, we hope the washing line will extend from TK Maxx to Argos via Marks and Spencer. Furthermore John Parker, Deputy Centre Manager at Castlepoint states: ‘I am delighted we have formed a partnership with such a worthwhile cause. It’s an exciting and meaningful venture whereby two companies are working towards one goal; saving people’s lives!’ So many bras so little time! Donate your old bras to a charity today – help others by helping yourself. It’s so liberating to throw away your old or ill-fitting lingerie – plus then you have an excuse to buy yourself more!
