Butterfly Collection Follow Fridays Blogger Interview

I have a list of favourite bra bloggers as long as my arm, but Butterly Collection’s is by far one of my favourites. With such a positive message coming out of every post and a wealth of information, I always make sure I stop by and follow her Twitter like a hawk!
I’ve been following Claire Dumican (now Syrenne!) and her store Butterfly Collection for a while now and actually interviewed her back in October 2011. It’s been great to see her business grow since then and I always forward Canadian readers her way as I know they’ll be in good hands!

Please could you give us a little introduction?
I am the busty brains behind Butterfly Collection Lingerie which I set up with my husband Paul because there wasn’t a dedicated D-K cup bra company in Canada. I’m a Yorkshire lass bringing straight-forward big bust knowledge to women in Canada and America. I believe that great bra fit starts with great knowledge and through our online fitting tools we’ve fitted busty women in some of the remotest parts of North America which makes me really happy.
When did you start your blog and why?
I started blogging back in 2010 when I started my company. I knew I didn’t want the blog to be an endless round of thinly veiled ads. I wanted it to be a place where busty women could feel understood, beautiful, educated and joyful. It took a while to find my stride but over the last year especially I’ve had amazing feedback from women across North America who have begun to have a new and positive relationship with their breasts.
Which other lingerie blogs do you read the most?
My staples are Busts4Justice (this is still the godmother of bra blogs for me) Fuller Figure Fuller Bust, Invest In Your Chest (of course!) The Lingerie Addict, Curvy Wordy and Sweet Nothings. I regularly check in on Full Figured Chest, Bras I Hate, Undercover Lingerista, Hourglassy, Fussy Busty, Boosaurus and XL Hourglass.
Where do you recommend people go get fitted?
I have at least 20 conversations every week about where to get a good bra fitting. So many women find us at the end of their agonizing search for bras with small bands and large cups having experienced several lousy fittings. I recommend learning how to spot a good fitting from a bad fitting (if someone measures over the top of your breasts then just leave – don’t even put your clothes back on – just leave!) I recommend having a Skype fitting with me and learning about your breasts!
Which brand do you think suits your shape and style best?
Cleo has been the biggest revelation to me. The fit is totally right for my bottom and side heavy breasts, especially as I don’t have much on top.
What is your ‘desert island’ lingerie set?
I’m still rather in love with my bridal Deity set I wore to marry Mr Butterfly earlier this year. The high waist knickers give me a great shape!

What, in your opinion, are the biggest upcoming trends in the lingerie world this Spring/Summer?
I’m really excited about the SS trends we’ve chosen for 2013. It feels like big boobs have finally been allowed to have a sense of humour. Supportive designs have been wrapped up in flirtatious and fun prints. There are some really classic fabrics and cuts but in colours that we haven’t seen before (Claudette are great at doing this). I’m also excited to see that some new cuts are bringing different projections for larger breasts.

Are you a plunge or a balconette girl?
Balconette – I only really wear plunges for dresses that demand it.
What is your lingerie guilty pleasure?
No lingerie. If I get a chance to hang around in beautiful nightwear with a cup of tea and a good book, I’m a happy girl.
What do you think is missing from the current lingerie market?
Quite a few things but I have high hopes that they are coming. Since I started Butterfly Collection the industry has changed considerably, however, there are still some groups of busty women who have a very hard time finding good fit for example; Petite women, women of colour, women with certain allergies (try finding an all-cotton bra in an H cup!) sports bras over an H cup, women with sloping shoulders to name but a few.

Thanks for stopping by, Clare!
